Another barrowload of goals graced the Football South Premier League yesterday, as Dunedin Technical beat Roslyn-Wakari 6-2, Green Island bounced back to win 5-1 over Northern and, at Memorial Park, Mosgiel beat University 2-0.

On Friday 12 FPL goals looked good, but yesterday the total rose to 16 as strikers enjoyed the Easter break.

Technical overpowered Roslyn with a strong first-half display at Tahuna Park to notch a 4-0 scoreline after Taylor McCormack opened the scoring with a dextrous swivelling narrow-angle shot after seven minutes.

Too much pace, and well-worked moves had Roslyn struggling to contain coach Aaron Burgess' side which now leads the FPL league table after Caversham's bye yesterday.

The darting runs of Tim McLennan earned Technical's speedster his first hat trick in the FPL, and he had plenty support from targetman Josh Stewart.

Roslyn worked hard to dig itself out of the hole in the second spell, and earned more steady possession, despite Technical stretching its lead to 5-0 through a goal claimed by Andrew Douglas, who also featured in a fierce clash of heads with Fraser Cameron that left both players wearing blood-stained bandages.

Roslyn at last got on the scoresheet when defender Cam Attwood forced the ball past Technical keeper Liam Whittaker and, since Cameron had left for hospital, 10-man Roslyn played surprisingly well.

And the goals kept coming as Blair Bates scored again for Roslyn, and McLennan clinched his hat trick in the 85th minute.

Technical player-coach Burgess was very pleased with his side's first-half display.

''We played slick football and used our pace to create space, then we finished well in front of goal,'' he said.

A glum Colin Thom said of his Roslyn side: ''We rarely got going in the first half; they gave us a footballing lesson. But I was pleased with the team spirit in pulling two goals back, even after being reduced to 10 men''.

At Forrester Park, Northern scored first against Green Island, but a Ben Kiore hat trick spearheaded an Island revival, and an eventual 5-1 victory.

Meanwhile, at Memorial Park, Mosgiel started its season with an impressive 2-0 win over University.
