New Zealand's Ben Campbell has moved into contention after
two rounds of the Asian amateur golf championships in Japan.
Campbell, from Masterton, fired a second round two-under 69
to move to two-under for the tournament in a share of eighth
place.
He is five shots off the lead of China's Zhiqun Lam who shot
a sizzling five-under 66 today to move to seven-under par at
the Kasumigaseki CC. He holds a one shot lead over Yosuke
Asaji (Japan) with Campbell remaining strongly in the
competition.
Campbell was joined by four other New Zealand players to make
the cut including Ryan Fox (Auckland), Daniel Pearce
(Hastings), Pieter Zwart (Hastings) and Brad Kendall (Mt
Maunganui).
Fox shot a one-under 70 today to move up to four-over and a
share of 31st place, with Pearce one shot back tied for 40th
after a one-over 72 today. Zwart had his second successive
three-over 74 while Kendall struggled to a seven-over 78.
Tauranga's Andrew Stewart was the only New Zealander to miss
the cut.
