The selectors have named a new-look Otago women's team to compete in the Toro interprovincial team's tournament at Lochiel, in Hamilton, on December 8-13.

The feature of the team is the three newcomers, Rachel Lissaman (Chisholm Park), Robyn Chambers (Otago) and St Clair schoolgirl Annabel Evans.

All three competed in the South Island event in Nelson during the weekend, when Otago struggled at times.

Chambers had a baptism of fire in the event, playing at No 1 after replacing the experienced Jo Hicks-Beach (Queenstown), who suffered an injury days before the tournament and was forced to withdraw.

Chambers failed to post a win but could be pleased with taking two No 1 golfers to the final hole and one to the 17th green.

Hicks-Beach will return to No 1 for the national event, while if Chambers can show the same form at No 5 she should emerge with a good record.

Lissaman is one of the few representatives from Chisholm Park in recent years, while Evans will be the reserve, but may get some action.

Evans showed promise last weekend with halves against her Aorangi and Southland opponents.

Sally Shaw is also from Chisholm Park and she will play at No 2 behind Hicks-Beach.

Columba College student Abigael Crawford (St Clair) had her first win at that level last weekend, beating Southland's Kerry Mariu with a 2-up margin.

Crawford moved to Dunedin at the start of this year after making her debut in the tough No 2 spot last year.

The inclusion of youth and newcomers is part of the plan to rebuild Otago women's golf.

However, there will be plenty of experience in Hamilton to assist them, as the team is managed by former Southland No 1 Lisa Joyce, who has played in a plethora of Toro tournaments.
