Golf: Logan dominant winner of Order of Merit

Promising Cromwell junior Inia Logan is on target to make a serious case for senior selection after winning the 2014 Junior Order of Merit title after the final two rounds at Jacks Point and Millbrook during the weekend.

Logan (16) finished with 2307 points and has been awarded the sum of $700, to be spent on coaching, equipment or travel this year.

His consistent form placed him almost 1000 points ahead of second-placed Cody McMullan, while Otago strokeplay champion James Anstiss, who is on a golf scholarship at Southeastern Louisiana University, came in third.

Logan led the field during the weekend, shooting 73 at Jacks Point on Saturday and 75 at Millbrook on Sunday.

McMullan came in second with scores of 78 and 74, while Jack Turner (Wakatipu Junior) and Ryan Shuttleworth (Wanaka) were tied for third two further shots back.

Abigael Crawford (St Clair) was the leading girl during finals weekend finishing eighth in the field with scores of 84 and 79.

Logan is already amassing points in the 2015 Order of Merit event after winning the South Island under-19 and under-17 titles on the Coringa course in Christchurch last month.
