Golf: Aussie pros share spoils in Queenstown

Australian professionals David Saunders and Graham Banister were joint winners of yesterday's $10,000 Club Car Queenstown Legends Golf Pro-Am at Kelvin Heights.

The pair posted rounds of 4-under-par 68 at the Queenstown Golf Club's course.

Despite it being a fine day, conditions were quite trying, with a brisk wind coming off Lake Wakatipu.

Banister made seven birdies but three bogeys, while Saunders was steadier, with just one bogey to go with his five birdies.

New Zealander Barry Vivian was alone in third place on 69, after finishing his round off with three consecutive birdies, and Wanaka's Garth Domigan took fourth place with a 70.

Banister (16th equal) and Saunders (22nd equal) had finished off the pace in the three-day event at Millbrook which ended last Sunday, but will be expecting to do better when they contest the two-day, $30,000 City of Dunedin Legends Pro Am at Balmacewen, starting on Friday.

Jim Lapsley (74 yesterday) and Sir Bob Charles (75) are also Dunedin-bound this week.
