Otago has named a 33-strong team to contest the 2010 national
gymsport championships in Hamilton later this month.
The province's best prospects are in the rhythmic gymnastics
disciplines.
Mikaela Walsh won the level seven rhythmic title last year
and also was first overall in the club A division at the 2010
national secondary school gymsport championships two weeks
ago.
She is one of the brightest medal prospects and will compete
at level eight this year, alongside Dale Hurring and Sarah
Morrison.
Level five gymnast Rosie Hardie came second in the level four
competition and has also been performing well this year.
American exchange student Tim Michaels has had some great
results and should do well in the level nine men's artistic
competition.
Men's coach Andrew Adams said Hamish Johnson and Tom Cushnie
would push for individual apparatus medals.
The championships are at Mystery Creek from September 24-28.
