Otago gymnastics is
buzzing after a series of excellent results at the national
championships in Auckland.
The Otago team won medals in rhythmic, apparatus and aerobics
events.
In the rhythmic competition, Mikaela Walsh was third overall
in the level nine grade, and the Dunedin Gymnastic Academy
group was second overall in the level four grade.
Walsh then claimed a pair of silver medals, in the ball and
ribbon, with Dale Hurring (ball) and Regan King (ball and
clubs) winning level nine bronze medals.
Paige Walsh (level seven) was second in the ball and third in
clubs, and Melissa Thomson (level six) was third in rope and
second in the ribbon.
Otago also claimed the trophy for the best presented rhythmic
gymnastics province.
In the newer discipline of gymnastic aerobics, Otago showed
its strength across the grades.
Bailey McCaughan won the level two 9-11 years grade, and
Annelise Lowther won the level three all ages grade.
Hannah Hutton (level two 9-11) and Emily White (level two
15-18) won silver medals, and Breana Smith won bronze in the
level one 9-11 years grade.
In team aerobics, the Alexandra Angels won silver in level
two, and the Alexandra Superstars won bronze in level one.
