League: Warriors won't take Marshall

Benji Marshall will not be a Warrior.

The failed rugby convert is looking for a gig back in the NRL after cutting ties with the Blues yesterday, but he will not be moving a few kilometres south to the Mt Smart-based club.

"He's a high quality player, but he's probably not what we need right now," Warriors coach Andrew McFadden told reporters today.

"We've got our own things to work on and although it's disappointing for Benji for sure, I think he'll find somewhere to go, but at this stage we've got other things to focus on."

Most NRL clubs have ruled out making an approach to Marshall, but what they say and what they do are not always in sync.

However it does seem that Marshall's reintegration into the sport that made him rich and famous will not be straightforward.

At this stage the Cronulla Sharks seem the most likely destination.

"I think he just needs to find his groove again, and rugby obviously wasn't that," McFadden said.

"If he goes back to league, I'm sure he'll find his form again."
