State of Origin in New Zealand? Not as crazy as it sounds in the opinion of Queensland forward Jacob Lillyman.

The NRL has already confirmed rugby league's showpiece will return to Melbourne next year with a match to be played at the MCG in 2015 and 2018.

Other venues such as Perth and London have been touted as possible locations for Origin matches as the NRL hopes to use the series to grow the game into new markets.

Lillyman says he'd fully support taking a match across the Tasman.

Since joining the Warriors in 2009, Lillyman says he's witnessed rugby league's profile grow in New Zealand and he's also been impressed by the passion for Origin in his adopted homeland.

"It would be massive. It'd sell out in the click of a finger," he said.

"They've got a great venue there in Eden Park that could hold it.

"Honestly, it's so big and I think it'd be massive, especially for rugby league in New Zealand, if they took Origin across there."
