League legend Brad Fittler has bobbed up as an interested
spectator at St George Illawarra training.
The former test star and Sydney Roosters coach sat through
the NRL club's session on Thursday before chewing the fat
with coach Wayne Bennett, assistant Adrian Lam and Dragons
players.
"It was good to have him down here," Lam said. "I think he's
going around to most clubs and just having a look around.
"He came down and spoke to Wayne about it so it was good to
catch up with him.
"He's just watching, seeing how different clubs do different
things."
Lam said Fittler's commentary role with the Nine Network had
been the catalyst for his visits to clubs' training sessions.
Fittler, who was cut loose by the Roosters at the end of last
season, also has a consultancy role working with the NRL's
referees to provide the whistle-blowers with a player and
coach's perspective on their calls.
He also has ties with both Bennett and Lam.
He was Bennett's assistant coach for the NRL All Stars side
in February and played and coached alongside Lam at the
Roosters.
