College A gave Southern Tui nowhere to hide as it charged to a 72-30 win in the premier game at the Edgar Centre on Saturday.

It was a netballing clinic on attack and defence from College, which led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter before really taking control of the game.

College scored 19 goals in the second quarter and held its opponent to six with a staunch defensive effort.

Leading 36-13, College returned to the court in the second half with confidence and ran rings around Southern's defence with crisp passes at a fast pace.

Southern tried to claw itself back into the game in the third quarter, working hard through the middle and producing several opportunities for goal shoot Eden Millan.

Although the third quarter was Southern's strongest, with 11 goals, College rattled on another 19 in the same period, led by influential goal attack Olivia Bates.

Bates shone for College in the circle with her support play and her ability to shoot from distance.

College's captain landed 16 goals from her 19 attempts and took a well-earned break in the final quarter.

Although its inspirational captain sat on the sideline, College delivered its crushing blow in the fourth quarter and outscored its opponent 19-6.

College coach Lauren Piebenga said her whole team played a part, from defence to attack, and its connections played a large part in the win.

In other games, Phys Ed A beat South Otago High School 75-41, and Southern Magpies thumped University-Albion 86-39.
