Netball: Trio of trophies for Bredin

Jono Bredin will need to find some extra room on his mantelpiece after winning big at the Dunedin netball prizegiving on Tuesday night.

He won the SE Foster Platter for best senior umpire, the Colleen Bond umpire of the year award and the Kathy Stewart Memorial Trophy for most valuable contribution to netball.

While Dunedin missed out on a third consecutive national provincial title, defender Zoe Walker won the MVP award after a stellar tournament.

Injured captain Gina Crampton and Miaana Walden received best team contribution awards.

Kate Gilchrist and Sophie Erwood won the MVP awards for Dunedin under-19 and under-17 respectively, while Zoey Flockton (under-19) and Maggie Burns (under-17) were recognised for best team contribution.

Hilary Smith was awarded the Rena McKenzie Trophy for best intermediate umpire and Gabby Trotter claimed the Wilma Hendry Trophy for best junior umpire.

Kathy Ferguson won the Julia Hyde Memorial Trophy for dedicated umpire and Kirsty Thwaites received the Umpires Achievement Cup.
