Netball: ANZ Championship GM quits

ANZ Championship general manager Andy Crook is quitting to take up a new position with Australia's National Basketball League.

The move will be seen as a case of Crook reacting to the uncertainty to the competition's future with the transtasman league likely to be disestablished from next season. It's likely each country will run their own competition before the top teams meet in a playoffs series.

Mark Bailey, who has been with the ANZ Championship since its inception as business finance manager, will take over as general manager and oversee the remainder of the 2016 ANZ Championship season, working closely with Netball New Zealand, Netball Australia and the 10 teams.

Crook took over as general manager following the fourth season of the transtasman league at the end of 2011.

"Andy has overseen a period of continued growth and evolution of the ANZ Championship and we wish him every success in his new role with the NBL," Trans-Tasman Netball Limited chairwoman Shirley Hooper said.
