New Zealand cyclist Hayden Roulston will chase a fourth Tour of Southland title in November.

Europe-based Roulston confirmed he will seek to add to his crowns won in 2006, 2007 and 2008 before crashing out in the second stage last year.

The recent announcement the event is no longer a UCI-classified race means Roulston can again race the tour despite his pro-tour status with leading team HTC Columbia.

"The status change is not a bad thing as it now allows New Zealand's pro cyclists to race in the event and I really wanted to head back down there again," Roulston said.

He will race for the Calder Stewart Industries team which is managed by his father Brian Roulston.

The Tour of Southland runs from November 1-6.
