St Clair Surf Life Saving member Andrew McMillan has been named captain of a 12-strong New Zealand squad looking to claim its third consecutive world title.
The Black Fins team to attend the life-saving world championships event Rescue 2016 in the Netherlands in September was named yesterday.
It includes former Olympic Games swimmer McMillan, who was named in an unchanged men's line-up from the one which won the 2014 world title in France.
The team also includes former Olympian Steven Kent and Ironmen Max Beattie and Cory Taylor.
The women's line-up includes former Commonwealth Games swimmers Samantha Lee and Laura Quilter and Ironwoman star Danielle McKenzie.
The New Zealand side will be looking to defend back-to-back world titles after it also won the event in Adelaide in 2012.
Black Fins coach Jason Pocock said there was pressure on the team to win the title for a third time.
"Our athletes worked really hard to create history in 2014 by winning the first back-to-back world titles and were incredibly proud of that achievement.
"However, our athletes aren't prepared to stop there and they are hungry to keep striving and achieving and we have a strong team which I believe is capable of doing just that.''
New Zealand will also be sending a youth team to the event.
