The Miller brothers, from Ranfurly, will play a key role for New Zealand at the Pacific Junior Curling championships in China over the next week.

Kris, the skip of the New Zealand men's team, is an experienced curler whose inspirational leadership helped Maniototo win the New Zealand under-21 title at the Dunedin Ice Stadium last August.

His brother Tim will play a crucial role in the middle to lay a good foundation and put stones in the circle.

Maniototo has three players in the New Zealand men's team for the Pacific championships at Harbin, China, from January 9 to 16.

The other Maniototo player is Matt Weir and they will be joined by Elliott Morgan and Lachlan Brown from Central Otago.

Morgan is the son of former New Zealand curling representative and Otago rugby halfback Richard Morgan.

Eight members of the New Zealand teams are from Central Otago.

Aucklanders Katie Bauer and Brittany Taylor complete the women's team.

Abby Pyle (Maniototo) has been named skip of the women's team.

She proved her credentials by skipping Maniototo to win the New Zealand women's under-21 title at Dunedin last year.

The other Maniototo members of the team are Lucy Harris and Lucy Lane.
