Paralympics: Hall eighth on 'ice rink'

New Zealand skier Adam Hall has finished eighth in his final event at the Winter Paralympics in Vancouver.

Hall, from Otago, completed the super combined event, which includes one run in the super G discipline and one in the slalom, yesterday.

After the super G, Hall was in 10th place with a time of 1min 26.44sec.

In the slalom, Hall completed the run in 2min 17.02sec to finish eighth overall.

The winner was German Gerd Schonfelder in 2min 11.84sec.

On Saturday, Hall finished seventh in the standing super G, completing his run in 1min 23.34sec.

The winner was again the great Schonfelder (1min 20.11sec).

Hall could not match his heroics from earlier in the week, when he won a dramatic standing slalom gold medal despite a fall in his second run, but said he was not bothered about missing out on a second medal.

"Two top 10s and a gold medal - I'm pretty happy with that," Hall said.

"It was great to have all of the support I've had throughout the Games. Today was a bit unfortunate with the conditions. The course was like an ice rink. For some reason they watered the course."

Hall has "a few things" planned over the next couple of weeks and will then plot the next move in his career.

"I'm going to Winter Park in Colorado with my family and then to LA for a few days, too. I'll return to New Zealand in early April and from there work out how to get to Russia (Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympics). I want to carry on as long as I can."

Hall returns to Dunedin on April 6.

The Winter Paralympics finish today with the closing ceremony this afternoon (New Zealand time).
