Racing: Mobile race likely for Datmymulligan

Trainer-driver Karen O'Connor is favouring a start from the mobile gate, rather than a stand, for Datmymulligan at Addington tomorrow night.

"She [Datmymulligan] will probably start in the mobile. She has only had one mobile and drew the second line. She needs the experience," O'Connor said.

Datmymulligan has won three races, all at Addington, and twice finished second from seven starts.

Shinny, who resumes racing at the Timaru meeting on Sunday, is now trained by Jim Reardon at Te Pirita.

The 7yr-old Shinny, who has not raced since January 2009, won four races when trained by Gerard O'Reilly.

Von Regal, a workout winner at Wyndham on Saturday, is set to resume racing at Forbury Park on Friday night.

Von Regal won fresh up at Winton last season for trainer Ross Wilson.

The daughter of Village Jasper also won over a mile in 1.57.5 at Winton.

Jason Noakes has been engaged to drive Yokozuna in a 3-6win mobile 2200m at Forbury Park.

Yokozuna is eligible for the race if driven by a concession junior driver.

Noakes has driven six winners.

Yokozuna, winner of six of his nine starts at Forbury Park, was a creditable third to Raglan and Stunin Cullen at Addington at his last start when facing a big rise in class.

King Of Strathfield is back in the Templeton stable of Neil Munro.

King Of Strathfield, who has not raced since May, won at Gore in March when trained by Billy Heads.

The Armbro Invasion gelding won at Rangiora and Methven in his first two starts last season when trained by Munro.

Maddison Renee, who won races at Gore and Forbury Park last week, resumed jogging on Monday with trainer Darryn Simpson after three days off work.

"I just haven't sorted out where she will race next," Simpson said.

Philippa Wakelin and Jessica Young were suspended until midnight next Sunday for driving breaches at the Methven meeting last Sunday.

Wakelin admitted excessive use of the whip on All About Alfie.

Young, driving Glory R, defended a charge that she had driven in a manner likely to cause interference to Melando Reign.

Regan Todd, the Burnham junior driver, trained his first winner when Del Sur was successful at Gore yesterday.

Todd took out a public trainer's licence this season and Del Sur was having his third start under the guidance of Todd.

Del Sur, who was claimed by Todd for $7500 after finishing second at Addington on August 17, was driven by Brendon McLellan, for whom Todd used to work.

McLellan had trained the gelding since 2009.

Todd trains from the same property as his employer Mark Jones.
