Here We Go Again, a daughter of the 2001 New Zealand Trotting
Cup winner Kym's Girl, won the listed $24,999 Caduceus Club
Of Southland Stakes for 2yr-old fillies at Ascot Park on
Saturday.
Here We Go Again is raced by her breeders Graeme Trist of Tai
Tapu and David Miller of Motukarara, who lease the share of
their co-breeder, Bill Marra, of Halswell.
The trio raced Kym's Girl, (by Man Around Town), who beat
Homin Hosed, Yulestar and Holmes D G in the Cup and won
another 17 races and stakes of $601,524 from the stable of
Colin and Julie De Filippi.
Here We Go Again, a daughter of Mach Three, was having her
second start. The first foal of Kym's Girl was La Moocha, who
won the first of her five starts from the De Filippi stable.
Kym's Girl also has an unraced 3yr-old filly by McArdle. La
Moocha has left a 2yr-old filly by Badlands Hanover.
• A veterinary examination of the favourite Sundon's Gift
after the 9yr-old Victorian trotter stopped to 11th in the
First Interdominion Trotter's Heat on Friday night, revealed
no abnormalities.
Trainer Chris Lang sen, could offer no excuses for the
performance. He said he would have the gelding monitored by a
veterinarian this week leading up to the second round of
heats over 2200m on Friday night.
Paul Nairn, the trainer-driver of Musgrove in the Second
Trotters' Heat, was fined $500 for allowing the horse to
shift in on Lets Get Serious (Mark Purdon) who broke with
1350m to run.
Lets Get Serious was observed to over-race and his
connections were also warned to improve the mobile start
manners of the 9yr-old.
Themightyquinn was a $3 favourite yesterday with the New
Zealand TAB for the final, ahead of fellow Australians Smoken
Up and Mr Feelgood at $4.
Monkey King, who finished sixth in his heat, is the
highest-rated New Zealand pacer for the final, at $15.
Trainer Brendon Hill and driver Ricky May said the horse did
not receive a good run and would improve.
Melbourne trotter Let Me Thru is a $3 favourite for the
final, after winning his heat over Sovereignty, who is a $5
second favourite. Heat winner Dr Hook is next best in the
market at $6.50, from I Can Doosit on $7 and defending
champion Sundon's Gift at $10.
Now's The Moment, the dam of Dr Hook, left The Truth (by
Sundon), who won his first race at Methven yesterday at his
sixth start.
The 3yr-old gelding is trained by Murray Edmonds at
Motukarara.
