Racing: Pair seek second Ryder win

Trainer Andrew Scott and jockey David Walsh combine in a bid to win the Ryder Stakes for a second time, at Otaki tomorrow.

Walsh is riding the Scott-trained Hayleys Comet, a winner on his home track at Matamata two starts back. He was runner-up to Authentic Paddy in his subsequent start at Awapuni when ridden by Walsh.

Walsh rode the Scott-trained Lamington Vegas in 2009. Walsh also won the Ryder in 1986 (Arctic Wolf) and 1996 (Orion).

Lamington Vegas is one of four fillies to win the Ryder in the past five years.

Scott also has the filly, It's All On, engaged tomorrow. A last-start winner at Te Teko, It's All On is the mount of Lisa Allpress.

Allpress and Matthew Cameron remain level with 156 wins at the head of the jockeys' premiership. Neither rode a winner at Awapuni yesterday.

Allpress has the mounts on in-form runners Antownnov (race 1), Amberio (r2), Master Guru (r4), Diamond Tango (r7) and Quality Royal (r8) tomorrow.

She has ridden Amberio in his three wins this season.

Amberio has gained her four wins at Otaki where the Captain Rio mare is trained by Karen Zimmerman.

Master Guru ran second to Captorg at Pukekohe at his last start. Diamond Tango has been placed in his last two starts and Quality Royal finished third at Awapuni at her last start.
