Stevenson and his wife, Shirley, of Oamaru, race Beyond Reason from the Oamaru stable of Phil Williamson.
They bred Beyond Reason, the third foal of Beyond The Stars, who won them four races when trained by Williamson and gained 16 second placings.
Beyond The Stars won a maiden trot at Forbury Park in May 2000 as a 3yr-old. Beyond Reason has won three races.
Bill was living at Waimate when he drove Blue Shawl to win at Forbury Park in May, 1958.
Blue Shawl was trained by his father, Jack. Bill also drove Blue Shawl to win the 1959 Waikouaiti Cup.
Cat's Luck, raced by Stevenson and his father, had the last of six wins in the Otago Handicap at Forbury Park in January 1959.
The Precaution mare was driven in her first five wins by George Shand and the last by Ken Balloch.
Bill owned Showpiece, winner of four races as a pacer in the 1960s.
He bought Beyond The Stars (Gee Whiz-Twilight Zone) for $4000 at the 1998 NZ Premier Yearling Sale. She is also the dam of winners Fineansunny and Beyond Me.
Craig Paddon, a Dunedin lawyer, as been appointed to the board of management of the Forbury Park Trotting Club.
He joins Stephen Cairns (chairman), John Henderson and Bruce Trainor.
Mr Cairns is stepping down at the end of the month.
The appointments are made with the approval of the club, Harness Racing NZ and and NZ Racing Board.
The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, Canterbury Jockey Club and Christchurch Casino have launched a promotion for NZ Cup week in November with a chance to win three motor vehicles.
The purchase of a NZ Cup pin for $5 will give an entry to be in the draw for the Ford Fiesta vehicles each valued at $25,880, at three meetings.
A portion of the sale of each pin will go to Ronald McDonald House South Island, which provides accommodation and support to families with a child in hospital care.
