Forbury Park Trotting Club is on the search for a new general manager following the resignation of Zelda Jordan.

Jordan handed in her resignation last week to take up a project-managing role outside the racing industry.

Jordan has two boys - Harrison (10) and Tom (12) - and she said the Forbury Park job had been tough on her sons.

''The night-time hours are a huge toll on my family, so to spend more time with my family is the main reason,'' Jordan said.

Jordan stepped up to the general manager's position in December 2012 after being the acting general manager from June of that year.

''It's been challenging but hugely rewarding,'' Jordan said.

She labelled the introduction of the sprint series and the opening of the administration building in late 2012 as the two highlights of her time in the role.

Jordan is assisting the club throughout its winter festival, as the club seeks a replacement.

''I'll be hosting the winter meetings for as long as the club needs me to.''

Chairman of the board of management John Henderson said the board was disappointed to lose Jordan from the position but understood her reasons.

''It happened at a bad time for us, really, but the family has got to take precedence,'' Henderson said.

''She has great people skills, she's well organised and she's done a lot to improve the general atmosphere around the club. She's really made a difference.

''She's got a good logical brain and has really helped simplify a lot of processes.''

Henderson said the board planned to advertise the position within the next 10 days.

''There are one or two things we want to sort out with how we're going to deal with the interim and then clarifying exactly what we want from the person in the position and whether it needs to be changed or whether we need to be more flexible.''

''But the intention is to advertise it as soon as we can.''
