Racing: Tiger Tara moves up cup rankings

Tiger Tara's bold second in last week's Maurice Holmes Vase has moved him to the fringe of the New Zealand Trotting Cup field with two months to go.

The country's leading 3yr-old pacer of last season chased home well behind Christen Me, getting within a length of the cup favourite.

Tiger Tara jumps from 19th on the rankings to 16th with Jimmy Johnstone, Pemberton Shard and Bit Of A Legend all dropping down one spot.

The only other move in the top 20 is just ahead of Tiger Tara, where Jason Rulz moves to 14 ahead of Fly Like An Eagle after his third place in Friday's feature.

Lewy Risk's win in his assignment on Friday night sees him jump two spots to 34th.

Sunday's Hannon Memorial in Oamaru will give Tiger Tara and other fringe-dwellers such as Pass Them By a chance to further their causes before some of the big guns hit the track in the next few weeks.
