Most roads lead back to Wingatui for gallopers who tackled the inner track there at the Otago Racing Club jumpouts yesterday.

Among those who stood out, Drumregal was back to her best behaviour and best form, winning the open 1000m.

Debbie Kennedy sent the Lord Of Warriors mare to the lead and poured on the pace, going on to win the heat by 10 lengths in 1.02.10.

The 5yr-old veered out and ran off the track at Riccarton on September 6 and had to trial satisfactorily in front of the stewards.

Stipendiary steward Mark Davidson gave the thumbs up after the trial and trainer Terry Kennedy will now set her for the rating 75 1400m on September 27.

''She'd never done anything like that before [at Riccarton], but it was her first big trip away,'' Kennedy said.

La Girl, the winner of the open 800m heat, is expected to be a race rival to Drumregal at Wingatui.

She is one of several horses who will line up for Wingatui trainer Steven Anderton on the day.

Others include The Solitaire and Hexie Hao, who will resume with a run in the 1100m open handicap.

Anderton was pleased with La Girl's one-length win over Volksbelle in 49.80sec.

''I thought she would need the blowout,'' he said.

Akal, the winner of one of the 1000m maiden heats, was destined to run at Gore tomorrow, until her co-trainer Brian Anderton had a change of plans.

''We were going to Gore, but he's out of a half-sister to Inferno [in Megagem],'' he said.

''She had precocious speed which we couldn't control, so we thought we would sit on him a bit.''

Akal will probably line up in a 1200m maiden at Wingatui, as will Gallant Boy, who placed once from three starts last season.

Steven Prince was happy with Ivanskavinskyskvar, who held off Dalwhinnie by half a length, with the pair eight lengths ahead of Tejay Trimbole in an 800m maiden heat.

Prince will find a 1200m maiden race for him, while he has reassessed the best distance for Hear Me Roar and will bypass the Canterbury Belle Stakes at Riccarton this Saturday for 3yr-old fillies over 1200m.

''I think she'll get a bit more ground than that - she could be more of a 1400m horse.''

He will look to start her off in a 1400m maiden in the coming weeks.
