LAST SEASON
278 starts, 24 wins, $159,956

Geoff Knight: ''It was a little bit down on previous years, but we didn't quite have the quality that we've had in previous years. We had numbers, but not quality. So we were happy with what we had - it turned out all right.''

THIS SEASON

''We're working 25 to 28 all the time. It doesn't get any higher [throughout the season] - we try to keep it to that number. There are plenty that come and go but it's comfortable around that number.''

2YR-OLDS TO WATCH

''We've got two - there's a filly by Christian Cullen out of One Dream. The next preparation will be the one that tells whether she'll be a 2yr-old but on her last prep, you think she might. And a colt by Mister Big out of Touch Of Rose [called Fiery Ferret]. He goes well, but he's in the same boat. The next preparation will tell us whether we're going to be pressing on with him as a 2yr-old.''

3YR-OLDS TO WATCH

''We qualified one called Onedin Onyx. He qualified at Gore in the same heat as The Manipulator and one of Kirk Larsen's [Mojito]. He led them up and ran third - he goes nice. He's out having a wee spell but he'll be back for Christmas racing. And there's one by Changeover out of a half-sister to Jimbob Jac [Balfour Butler] - he's about three weeks from qualifying and he goes really nice. We'll qualify him then give him a break and bring him back for Christmas.''

OLDER HORSES

''Al Raza will continue on. She's going to the workouts on Saturday. Vincennes is going to continue on, The Shakey Mistress is probably about three weeks from workouts; and then there are all the ones that are racing at the moment - the maidens and c1s. Maldini and Dark Dana are going in the claiming race this week.''

HORSE TO FOLLOW

''Al Raza will do a pretty nice job. She'll race on October 18 at Wairio in the mile day and then we will just set her up for the mares' races over Christmas.''
