Racing: King Cyril records fastest time of the day

Yesterday's trials at Forbury Park provided several horses with the chance to get fit for the Forbury Park Trotting Club meeting on Thursday night.

All four heat winners of the qualified heats are entered for events on Thursday night, and King Cyril produced the quickest time of the day in the c1 and faster mobile pace, clocking 2.51.8 for the 2200m.

King Cyril downed The Lutts at the trials by a neck, but The Lutts has drawn barrier 5 with King Cyril drawn on the outside of the mobile arm for the c2-c3 mobile pace on Thursday.

Another to impress was Sappy's Brite Star, who overcame a 20m handicap to win by 2 lengths over fellow back-marker Feather Boyz in the trot.

The Craig Buchan-trained Sundon mare has been out of the winner's circle since last November, but meets an even field on Thursday, when last-start winner Davey's Gift looks to be the major danger.

Titan Banner's time of 2.55.0 places him in good stead for his debut this week, although the half-brother to 2005 New Zealand Cup winner Mainland Banner has drawn barrier 8 for the 2200m mobile pace.

The blustery wind made life difficult for the two pacers in the qualifying heat, who were 3.2sec outside the required qualifying time.
