White Robe Lodge will take three colts to the select sale at Karaka in late January - but it's the sole filly in the North Taieri stud's draft that could capture the attention.
The Raise The Flag filly is out of Ignite, a Yamanin Vital filly who did not make her mark on the track but has quality all around her in her pedigree.
Ignite is out of Honor Grades mare Emerald Fire, making her a full sister to Inferno (10 wins, $251,988) and a half-sister to Ortem Fire (5 wins), Upclosenpersonal (4 wins), Megagem (3 wins), Zigalong (2 Australian wins) and Ronnie (2 wins).
''Being out of a Yamanin Yital mare probably makes her even more appealing,'' White Robe Lodge stud manager Wayne Stewart said.
''She's probably got a fair bit going for her - she's a lovely big scopy filly.''
The filly out of Ignite is one of six White Robe Lodge yearlings accepted into the Karaka sales, with the other three colts in the select sale and two colts in the festival sale.
The catalogue was released online by New Zealand Bloodstock this week.
''We nominate them and then they came and looked at them a couple of months ago on their physical type,'' Stewart said.
''It's too far to take them if they're not good types anyway - we just select ones that are more forward and mature for that sale and go from there.''
One colt who is likely to draw buyers' interests, for two reasons, is a colt by Raise The Flag out of The Gem.
The colt is grey, and also traces back to some quality gallopers in its past with The Phantom and The Phantom Chance further back in The Gem's pedigree.
The Gem has left Gunsmoke (four wins), The Gallant Girl (two wins) and The Barmaid (one win).
''It's a good chance to buy into a nice family. The mare was a good winner herself and left winners - the family keeps on producing.''
The premier, select and festival sales, which produced 15 group 1 winners last season, have a combined 1364 yearlings entered across six days of selling, which start on January 26.
