Otago trainers snared two of the main prizes on offer for the season after the Forbury Park Trotting Club's final meeting of the season on Friday.

Westwood Beach trainer Graeme Anderson was a runaway winner in the Forbury Park winter trainers UDR (strike-rate) competition, which ran from April 2 to July 17.

Last season's UDR competition came down to the final meeting, but Canterbury trainer Cran Dalgety could not swing the balance his way as Margarita, his sole runner at that meeting, finished fourth.

This year was much more clear cut. Anderson lined up 29 starters during the club's winter festival, collecting 10 wins, three seconds and seven thirds for a UDR of .4828.

Makarewa trainer Tony Barron was next best with six winners, two seconds and six thirds from 24 starts (.3796) and Phil Williamson was third with his 26 starters providing two wins, four seconds and three thirds (.2009).

Anderson wins one tonne of Pryde's Easifeed for the second year running.

Of Anderson's 28 winners this season, 14 of those were at Forbury Park, with one other at Forbury Park's June 13 meeting held at Gore.

Mosgiel trainer Martin Denton got the best out of Och Aye The Noo this season to earn her the Forbury Park fillies and mares competition.

The mare won four of her eight starts at Forbury Park meetings, and two seconds left her with 26 points, nine clear of the Geoff and Jude Knight-trained Sage, who finished on 17 points.

Secret's Out and Woodlea DJ (both 16 points) shared third.

Denton and his co-owners Brian Cookson, Keith Gilmore and Jimmy Vaughan get $500 cash from the Washington VC syndicate for the title.

Katie Cox's six wins were a decisive factor in her two-point win over Michelle Neilson in the race for the Roger Kingsland Memorial Trophy.

Cox won three times with the Tom Twidle-trained Woodlea DJ and earned wins with Idle Conn, Hudson Sully and Rock Till You Drop.

She also picked up three seconds and four thirds to give her 43 points on a 5-3-1 basis.

Neilson had three wins - Strike On Command, Smart Caesar and Smoke N Fire - but her eight seconds and two thirds lifted her to 41 points. Kimberly Butt was third with 22 points.

Dexter Dunn went close to 50 wins at Forbury Park meetings again this season, driving 42 winners at Forbury Park itself, four at the June 13 meeting at Gore, and two at the club's grass-track meeting at Wingatui.

Jonny Cox drove 23 winners at all three venues for the Forbury Park club this season, with 19 at Forbury Park, three at the Gore meeting and one at Wingatui.

Blair Orange claimed 21 wins at Forbury Park to help him to 110 wins this season. Matthew Williamson was one behind on 20 wins, eight ahead of his older brother Nathan on 12.

Burnham trainer Mark Jones finished the season with 16 wins at Forbury Park Trotting Club meetings, all at the track itself.

He was one ahead of Anderson's total of 15, the same final tally for Roxburgh trainers Geoff and Jude Knight.
