Last week, the chase was not on, but this week it is.
Williamson turned up to Forbury Park last Thursday sitting on 81 wins for the season and not too bothered about cracking his first century, but a quartet of victories at Forbury Park and one at Rangiora on Sunday took him to 86 wins.
‘‘This week it's become a wee bit closer, so I might as well have a good look at it,'' Williamson said.
‘‘Hey, it'll be week-by-week. If I got nothing at Forbury tonight, it would make it very hard.''
Williamson has drives in all 11 races tonight, partly due to brothers Matthew and Brad, who have offered up their best drives to Williamson.
‘‘Brad's probably got the New Zealand junior premiership sewn up and Matty's an open driver now, so I'll certainly repay them next season with drives for a month or two until we're back to level pegging again.''
But it could be one of his own runners which gets the ball rolling tonight.
Williamson has Gangnam Style fresh-up in race 2 tonight in which he should dominate from barrier 2.
The 3yr-old has not been sighted since his second to Franco Cristiano at Gore in August and a small breathing problem has been ‘‘taken care of''.
‘‘He hasn't had a workout or a trial but I'm happy with where he's at, so he'll be very hard to beat,'' Williamson said.
‘‘When you're on the best horse you've got to drive them like the best and that's what I feel he is so we'll see what happens.''
Hurricane Banner (race 7) moves into the c1 grade tonight after last week's win, and Williamson said the gelding should strip fitter.
‘‘He did blow a lot after that run so I expect him to improve with that run. I don't think it's that much of a step up in class - it doesn't look an overly strong field.''Brads Kenny (race 3), who is trained by Williamson's father Phil, comes into his c1-c2 trot assignment with plenty of upside, but Williamson is concerned by the inside barrier from the standing start.
‘‘The reports are he will need the run - that's going to be a slight question mark, especially when they are a bit fresh and drawn 1,'' he said.
Williamson is also worried Sun's Invasion (race 6) might get trapped behind fast beginners Starlight Invasion and Mr Majestic immediately on her outside.
‘‘I can see her buried away on the fence and that's never a good thing.''
Of his outside drives, Williamson said Fern Fever (race 4) was ‘‘not the worst‘‘ and Bettordean (race 8) ‘‘ is my best drive probably''.
Elusive Flight (race 11) could round out Williamson's night in style from barrier 7.
Williamson's other stable runner Kiwi Focus (race 10) will be looking for a nice drag into the race from her second line draw.
