Do not be surprised if Come Fly With Me is at Riccarton during New Zealand Cup week.
The mare continued her love affair with Oamaru yesterday, winning her third start from just four attempts at the track.
Jockey Lisa Allpress, who won five races on the card to give her a 12-win lead over Matthew Cameron in the national jockeys' premiership, managed to get Come Fly With Me up on the speed and she was never caught, winning by 2 lengths.
"We should have led in the Waimate Cup, eh?'' co-trainer Stephen Blair-Edie said after the mare's impressive win.
Four of Come Fly With Me's six wins have come on dead tracks, and two on good tracks, so it seems natural for Blair-Edie to target the mare towards New Zealand Cup week in November.
"I'm not going to take her out of work because she just puts on too much weight. She'll just tick over through to cup week. We'll try and get in one of the races there.''
Margarita Mover is just as taken with Oamaru.
The Terri Rae-trained filly is now unbeaten after two starts on the course following yesterday's rating 65 1200m win.
Part-owner Ryan Thistoll, who works for Rae, was doubling as the strapper yesterday and said the 3yr-old "loves it here''.
"It's just a matter of getting the right races and the tracks to suit,'' he said.
"She got bogged down at Riccarton the other week but she's a tough, honest filly.''
Black Estate's maiden win over 1200m means more to co-trainer Tarsha Stokes than a regular maiden win.
''We're really rapt to win this race with him because our very dear owner, Laurie Howard, who has supported the stable for years, has a half share and is very sick,'' Stokes said.
Howard, of Timaru, shares in the ownership with co-trainer Michael Stokes.
Tarsha Stokes described the son of Perfectly Ready as a "bit of a handful, but he's only new to the game''.
The 4yr-old won a trial at Rangiora last week, although that more out of necessity than choice.
"The only reason we had a trial was we couldn't get him in to any races. We kept nominating and he was on the ballot all the time.''
The track got slower as the rain continued, which suited Mystic Power.
The 3yr-old gelding had two starts on slow tracks for a ninth and a third before yesterday's 1600m win, although Daly said the ninth at Oamaru should have been better.
"It was probably my fault - he should have had blinkers on.
"He's just been a different horse since I put blinkers on and just stepping up over ground.''
The five wins for Allpress takes her four short of her personal best of 159, set last season.
Canterbury apprentice Gosen Jogoo also rode three winners yesterday.
