Jarrod Todd, the Christchurch jockey, has joined the
Melbourne stable of John Didham.
Todd (22) and his wife, Andrea, left for Australia last
month.
Todd rode 221 winners in New Zealand, including the listed
race winners Ticklish (Timaru Stakes and Pegasus Stakes) and
Cherry Creek (Canterbury Belle Stakes).
Todd began his apprenticeship as a 15-year-old with the
Wingatui stable of Hec and Steve Anderton.
He rode his first winner, the Anderton-trained Sun Wood, at
Gore in 2003.
Todd, who was from a non-racing background, was the top South
Island apprentice twice.
He moved to Christchurch on completing his apprenticeship to
gain more opportunities.
He also rode in the Central Districts.
