Hostile Grins, who posted his third win in four starts
when successful at Winton yesterday, will be freshened with the
possibility he will return to Southland for an $18,000 race for
4yr-olds at Gore on Sunday week.
"We will get him home and freshen him up and then make a
decision on his programme," Anthony Butt said.
His brother, Tim, is the owner and trainer of Hostile Grins.
The Go For Grins gelding has been driven by Anthony's son,
Chris, in his wins at Winton and Wyndham in the past five
days.
Tim Butt bought Hostile Grins out of the Orari stable of
Denise Ottley two months ago.
Hostile Grins had qualified for Ottley at Oamaru the previous
month.
"I trialled him and we bought him straight away," Anthony
Butt said.
"We found he was very green and took him to several trials
before he had his first start [February 7]".
Hostile Grins, bred by Hamish McPherson, is out of Hostile
Waters, an unraced Sands A Flyin mare who has left the winner
UK Connection.
Chocolate Brownie has an aversion to Addington to overcome in
the $85,000 Yearling Sales Trot for 3yr-olds tonight.
Chocolate Brownie, trained by Steven Reid and Graeme
Rogerson, could manage only a fourth in three starts at
Addington as a 2yr-old last season.
He has subsequently won at Cambridge and Alexandra Park.
He had won at both those venues before heading south last
season.
