Otago crews will make one last push today to earn the right to race for medals at the Maadi Cup on Lake Karapiro.

A bunch of crews has already qualified for A finals, which will be raced tomorrow and Saturday, while a raft of others will compete in semifinals today.

Otago Boys' under-18 coxless pair of Corey Lewis and Scott Bezett has qualified for the A final, after winning its repechage in 7min 28.94sec yesterday.

Columba College's lightweight four also booked a spot in the A final on the back of a second-place finish in the repechage round.

Wakatipu High School, which has more rowers (37) than any other Otago school competing, has a real chance of winning a medal in the girls novice coxed eight - two of its crews contest the A final tomorrow.

Boys under-17 single scullers Riley Bruce (Mt Aspiring), Woody Kirkwood and Tom Grave (both John McGlashan) all qualified for today's semifinals on the back of strong performances yesterday.

Bruce, who is also in the medal hunt in the under-18 single scull, finished second in one of four quarterfinals, clocking 7min 45.45sec, while Kirkwood and Grave squeaked through to the next round after finishing fourth in their respective quarterfinals.

The John McGlashan pupils also qualified for today's under-17 double sculls semifinal, after finishing third in a tense quarterfinal.

Lucy Geddes (Dunstan) finished fourth in the under-17 single sculls quarterfinal to sneak through to the semifinals.

Dunstan High School's girls under-15 coxed quadruple sculls crew of Annalise Cook, Iona Morton, Ella Creagh, Lucy Harrison and coxswain Sophie Williamson dominated its repechage to book a spot in today's semifinals.

Morton and Creagh also combined to finish second in the girls under-18 novice double sculls, booking a spot in the semifinals in the process.

Otago Girls' under-18 double scullers Juliette Alm-Lequeux and Karley Wilden-Palms, and St Hilda's Eliza Adams and Lola Garden both finished in the top four of their quarterfinals and will race for spots in the A final today.

Among other Otago crews competing in semifinals are: Oscar Pedersen and Jared Brenssell (Waitaki Boys') in the under-18 novice double sculls, both St Hilda's under-16 coxed quadruple sculls crews, Ben Morris and Andrew Timmings (John McGlashan) and Mark Taylor and James Scott (Waitaki Boys') in the boys under-16 double sculls, Otago Boys' under-17 coxed four, Bradley Leydon (John McGlashan) in the under-16 single scull, St Hilda's under-16 coxed four, John McGlashan's under-17 and under-15 coxed quadruple sculls, Macaela Turfus and Geddes (Dunstan) in the girls under-17 double sculls, Columba's under-18 novice coxed four and Waitaki Boys' under-18 novice coxed four.
