Former All Black Josh Kronfeld has turned presenter for a Dunedin television feature expected to reach a global audience of up to 100 million viewers.

Kronfeld is one of seven former All Blacks who are presenting their own 30-minute magazine show on a different New Zealand city for the International Rugby Board's show Total Rugby.

Executive producer Martin Cross said the show would screen to 100 million Rugby Channel viewers in 170 countries, as well as on all Emirates flights leading up to the Rugby World Cup.

"Rugby is growing in popularity, and the World Cup is absolutely huge," he said.

The idea for the show was to have former rugby players showcase areas they identified with while talking about their own Rugby World Cup experiences.

Other All Blacks participating are Ian Jones (Whangarei), Norm Hewitt (Wellington), Jeff Wilson (Invercargill), Justin Marshall (Queenstown and Christchurch), Buck Shelford (Rotorua) and Grant Fox (Auckland).

Kronfeld was "an offbeat character and an incredible rugby talent to show off Dunedin", Mr Cross said.

As part of the show, Kronfeld was filmed surfing at St Clair, enjoying tourist attractions, visiting the University of Otago and, of course, appearing at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Kronfeld said Dunedin was one of the country's best-kept secrets, and he was happy to highlight his favourite places.

Seemingly a natural in front of the camera, Kronfeld even ad-libbed his own Dunedin catchphrase when exiting the St Clair surf.

"Dunedin - you've just got to be there."
