Jeremy Curragh
The man brought in to help sort through the finances of
the Otago Rugby Football Union is to have an extended stay.
Jeremy Curragh was appointed change manager of the union last
month, to look through the finances and come up with a budget
and path for the future.
He was initially employed for a four-week period which was
set to conclude today but when contacted yesterday, Curragh
said he would be here for at least another week.
He said nothing could be read into having to stay a longer
time, as there was simply a lot of work to get through.
"We are making some progress but these things invariably take
longer than you would like. We are going as fast as we can
and there are some key decisions which have to be made and we
want to make sure we make the right ones," Curragh said
yesterday.
"All the parties that are involved are being very
supportive."
Curragh said the accounts for the union for the last
financial year were still with the auditors and he could not
say what the size of the annual loss was. It was expected to
be hefty.
Curragh had previously said the union needed to grow its
revenue, and the professional side of the game was losing
money.
