Tickets for the All Blacks v Springboks test go on sale on Monday for residents south of the Waitaki River, but the offer is not open for long.

It runs for one week, or until the ticket allocation is exhausted, before remaining tickets go on public sale across New Zealand.

Dunedin Venues Management Ltd Guy Hedderwick said he was expecting strong southern interest for the September 15 game at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

The southern sale scheme was hatched when test rugby returned to Carisbrook in 2008.

It had proved very successful with southern residents and had continued for tests in the following years, helping sell out games at Carisbrook.

Hedderwick said tickets would be held back to go on public sale across New Zealand though he could not say how many would be available to southern buyers.

Tickets had already been sold to ground members and club members throughout Otago.

Hedderwick said sales had been strong to this group - with a few thousand sold.

Ticket prices for adults start at $92, rising to $152.50 for an A category ticket.

Hedderwick said there had only been one complaint about the price of the tickets.

It is the first test to be played at the new Forsyth Barr Stadium and will see a match-up between the World Cup champion and the immediate previous World Cup champion.
