Otago has made seven changes to its starting line-up to take on high-flying Tasman in Nelson on Sunday.

Tasman is flying high in the Premiership, sitting second on the ladder and coming off a convincing win over Wellington last Sunday.

Otago also had a good win last Sunday, against Waikato, but knows it has a tough task in getting any points off Tasman.

Otago coach Tony Brown has opted to rest some players, while captain Charlie O'Connell is over an injury to his quad and comes back into the side.

His replacement as skipper, Lee Allan, is sidelined for Sunday's game after he picked up a nasty head knock in the win over Waikato.

The player who knocked Allan in an ugly no-arms tackle, Waikato prop James McGougan, was suspended for a week for his actions.

Allan has been in impressive form this year and he will be replaced on the blindside flank by Harbour loose forward Naulia Dawai.

Openside flanker James Lentjes also gets a rest, nursing a sore shoulder, and is replaced by Hugh Blake.

Blake impressed when he came on last week and will look to continue his good form.

Joe Latta comes into lock, with both Jackson Hemopo and Josh Dickson on the Otago bench.

TJ Ioane is not making the trip north as his partner is expecting their second child in the next few days.

Liam Coltman comes back into his hooking role, swapping roles with Sam Anderson-Heather.

Anderson-Heather took a blow to his ribs in last week's game but trained yesterday and was cleared for the bench.

Nick Ealey continues at halfback while Jayden Spence comes into second five-eighth to replace Tei Walden, who has some injury niggles after playing every game so far this season.

Trent Renata makes way for Tony Ensor at fullback, while Kieran Moffat comes back into the reserves.

Tasman will name its side today and is likely to have one eye on its game next week, taking on Canterbury in Christchurch.
