The Blues have hit back at a report they are sounding out replacements for coach John Kirwan.

A Radio Sport story today said Tasman ITM Cup coach Kieran Keane had been contacted about Kirwan's role at the Blues following the team's poor start to the season. Kirwan is contracted until the end of this year.

In a statement, the Blues said the organisation was "dismayed" at the story.

Blues chief executive Michael Redman said that no one from the Blues organisation had approached any other coach and that the "board and management are fully focused on their full support of Kirwan, the staff and team".

"We are dismayed that a media organisation would run this sort of report without attempting to verify its authenticity," said Redman.

The organisation will carry out a review as planned on all aspects of its operation at a later date, he said.
