Otago Boys' High School thumped Waitaki Boys' High School 86-0 in the annual First XV interschool at Littlebourne yesterday.

The win ensured Otago Boys' remained unbeaten in traditional interschools for the second straight season, and was arguably further proof its decision to leave the Highlanders First XV competition to play in the Dunedin premier colts grade this year was justified.

Otago Boys' fullback Josh Buchan, a former Waitakian, scored two tries and landed four conversions in an 18-point haul, while second five-eighth Kabe Calder dotted down three times in the romp.

Two tries in the first 10 minutes of the match set the tone for the host school, which led 45-0 at halftime.

Things did not get any better for Waitaki after the break, as Calder knifed through the line to complete his hat trick inside the first few minutes.

Otago Boys', which enjoyed a wealth of territory and possession, ran in six more second-half tries, including one to 135kg former Waitaki prop Sione Asi on fulltime.
