University A will hold on to the Vic Cavanagh Memorial for another year.

Powerful No 8 Sione Teu scored in injury time to seal a 35-21 win for the home team at the University Oval.

The final margin was perhaps flattering with Southern able to put pressure on the defending champions, particularly up front. But University was just too slick out wide.

Taieri defeated Alhambra-Union 16-9 in a dull and error-ridden fixture at North Ground.

Brodie Flannery scored all of Taieri's points.

Dunedin pumped Zingari-Richmond 57-26 at Montecillo and Kaikorai smashed Pirates 87-7, while Harbour held off Green Island at Watson Park to win 29-22.
