Rugby: Moascar Cup changes hands again

Otago Boys' High School's hopes of a Moascar Cup challenge have been dashed after Nelson College beat Timaru Boys' High School today.

Nelson College claimed an 18-3 victory to win the trophy dubbed the Ranfurly Shield of school's rugby for the first time.

Timaru Boys' took the trophy off St Andrew's College last weekend in an upset win and had they were able to see off Nelson College, Otago Boys' were in line for the next challenge.

Christ's College got their season back on track after their midweek loss to Otago Boys', with a 34-18 win over Marlborough Boys' College. Ashburton College claimed a narrow 29-26 win over Rangiora High School, while Christchurch Boys' High School beat St Thomas College 29-3.

Shirley Boys' High School claimed the scalp of St Andrew's College with a 27-14 win, while St Bede's College beat Lincoln High School 34-3 and Burnside High School beat Roncalli College 37-7.

Further north Wellington College ran out 19-5 victors over Rongotai College, while St Patrick's (Town) claimed a big 101-12 win over St Bernard's.

The powers of North Harbour were to the fore, with Westlake Boys', Whangerei Boys, Massey College and Rosmini College all winning comfortably.

In the Central North Island competition Wesley College were beaten by Francis Douglas Memorial College 29-24.

Hamilton Boys' High School scored 50 and held Palmerston North Boys' High School scoreless, while Hastings Boys' High School won their grudge match with Napier Boys' High School 25-3.
