The Otago Boys' High School first XV performed a haka before its traditional interschool game against Waitaki Boys' High School in Oamaru yesterday.

OBHS won 33-12 after leading 21-0 at the break. OBHS did not play with the greatest discipline and coach Ryan Martin opted to rest a few regular starters. But Waitaki Boys held its own and drew the second half 12-12.

OBHS hooker Abraham Pole had a terrific game. He scored a wonderful try and carried the ball strongly. Halfback Tim Hogan was also impressive. He defended well and his passes had good width.

Waitaki coach Wayne Kinzett said his side made "two or three too many errors'' but it was otherwise a good effort against a strong OBHS side.
