Canterbury businessman David Rhodes has succeeded Ian MacRae as vice president of New Zealand Rugby following a postal ballot for the vacant position.
The election was held over from last month's annual meeting following an eligibility issue concerning the other nominated candidate.
Rhodes was the only candidate nominated in the subsequent election.
"We congratulate David on his election and welcome him to his new role," said New Zealand Rugby chairman Mike Eagle.
Rhodes has served the game over many decades as a player, coach and administrator. He has been a director of the Crusaders, Chairman of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union and member of the Hillary Commission.
New Zealand Rugby also confirmed the appointments of experienced business woman Julie Christie and sports leader Kereyn Smith to the board's commercial committee and rugby committee respectively.
The commercial committee reviews the various commercial strategies and opportunities of New Zealand Rugby and the rugby committee examines issues relating to the professional and community game.
Julie Christie ONZM is a media and business consultant, a respected television producer, director of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and served on the board of Rugby New Zealand 2011, the organising committee for the World Cup.
Kereyn Smith has enjoyed a long career in sport leadership. She is currently secretary general of the New Zealand Olympic Committee and has chaired Netball New Zealand, served on the board of the Highlanders and is a former general manager of the Hillary Commission.
