It was all rather bizarre. Dunedin was scheduled to play Harbour in the key premier rugby game at Watson Park today.

But when the players arrived at the ground it was declared unplayable after the heavy rain this morning.

Play was shifted back into town at Moller Park but that was not much better.

The rain made all grounds difficult to play on, with puddles of water on some fields, and the remainder very slippery.

Dunedin scraped out a 10-5 win against Harbour with flanker Hugh Blake playing a key role.

Varsity A scored four tries in a 22-minute first-half blitz at the North Ground to beat Alhambra-Union 26-10.

These two results mean that the top four for the semi-finals have been decided. Harbour has lost its chance of making the top four.

Taieri leads the Gallaway Trophy competition with 78 points and is followed by Southern 67, University A 59, Dunedin 58, Harbour 49, Alhambra-Union 41, Kaikorai 38, Zingari-Richmond 38, Green Island 6, Pirates 6.

The big question mark to be answered in the final round next Saturday is whether University A or Dunedin will finish third and avoid playing Taieri in the semi-finals.

Zingari-Richmond regained the Bert Hellyer Trophy for the first time since 2008 when it beat Green Island 59-10 at Miller Park.

The scores were: Dunedin 10 - Harbour 5; Taieri 72 - Pirates 5; University A 26 - Alhambra-Union 10; Southern 24 - Kaikorai 3; Zingari-Richmond 60 - Green Island 10.
