10 reasons the Highlanders will beat the Hurricanes

The plans have been prepared. The players are primed. The fans are pumped. Now it's GAME ON.

D-day has arrived.

When the going gets tough, the tough have to get going.

This is when the men of the Highlanders stand up and grab the Super rugby title.

How confident are we?

Fairly.

After all, everything is pointing our way.

We've come up with 10 reasons the Highlanders will win.

Take a look at these and you'll realise the side from down this way will come out on top in the battle at the Cake Tin tonight.

1: We have won the past four games at the stadium - the last time we lost to the Hurricanes in Wellington, Peter Dunne had a decent haircut, John Key had never heard of Kim Dotcom and Greek banks were open.

2: John Campbell is a Hurricanes supporter - the omens are not good. He's not having a good year.

3: The Hurricanes are all style. The Highlanders are all substance. And substance beats style any day.

4: Our two Smiths are better than their one Smith.

5: If it is close, we can win it with a dropped goal. We have hit five already this year. The Hurricanes last dropped a goal 812 days ago.

6: The weather is supposed to be fine tonight - we're used to that, having played half the season in the magnificent Forsyth Barr Stadium.

7: The moons are in alignment - well, Pluto was up shining in the sky this week and shone brightest in the South.

8: Richie McCaw wants the Highlanders to win - God always listens to Richie.

9: Thier midfield has a combined age of 66 - pension them off.

10: The Highlanders are a hard-working honest bunch of blokes who will die trying. They have scored some fantastic tries and entertained us all this year. They deserve the title.
Oh, OK, the Hurricanes have had a pretty fair season too. May the best team win.
