Otago players up for the challenge (+ video)

Otago rugby players are the latest to take on the Running Man Challenge.

In a post on Twitter today, teammates are seen working out in a gym before joining in dancing to the now familiar My Boo song. The side has challenged all Mitre 10 Cup teams to do the same.

The Running Man Challenge is part of a worldwide internet craze that began in the United States but really took off when the New Zealand Police first released a video of their self-described "twinkle-toed staff" earlier this month. That video has been viewed millions of times.

Since then, police forces including the NYPD, LAPD, the London Metropolitan Police and forces in Australia and Scotland have posted their own videos, while other emergency services have joined in.

Organisations and community groups big and small worldwide have also taken part, while other Kiwi sports teams and stars have posted their efforts, including members from the All Black Sevens and women's rugby sides, and Olympian champion shot-putter Valerie Adams.

MPs have got in on the act too. Earlier this month, Maori Party co-leader Te Ururoa Flavell issued a challenge to US President Barack Obama, posting a video of the MP and his whanau in their kitchen, while other politicians have busted moves in the foyer of Parliament Buildings in Wellington.
