Rugby: NZ Sevens name Olympic trial squad

New Zealand has named a 16-player squad for the Paris and London legs of the Sevens World Series, which will double as a trial squad for the Olympics.

Captain Scott Curry was included and will train with the squad, although not play as he recovers from injury.

The other usual suspects join Curry in the team, while Sam Dickson, Ben Lam and Joe Webber were not considered due to injury. Dickson and Webber remain in contention to make the team.

Converts from the 15-man code Sonny Bill Williams, Rieko Ioane, Akira Ioane, Liam Messam and Augustine Pulu were all included.

Pita Ahki, Kurt Baker, Dylan Collier, Scott Curry, DJ Forbes, Akira Ioane, Rieko Ioane, Gillies Kaka, Liam Messam, Tim Mikkelson, Sione Molia, Lewis Ormond, Augustine Pulu, Teddy Stanaway, Regan Ware, Sonny Bill Williams.
