Olympic medal contender Didier Cuche broke his right thumb
during a World Cup giant slalom, putting his participation at
the Vancouver Games in doubt, the Swiss ski federation said.
Dunedin cross-country skier Andy Pohl (21) improved his
FIS-ranking and beat his Australian rivals at the world
under-23 cross-country championships in Germany yesterday on
his way to finishing in 50th place in a field of 64 athletes
competing in the 15km classic race.
Some might say he's Usain Bolt on skis. Not surprisingly,
though, when Errol Kerr tells people he's a member of the
Jamaican Winter Olympic team, most pull out the bobsled
one-liners.
