The final results from this year's Tararua Real Iced
Coffee Slopestyle Series at the Remarkables Ski Area have been
posted and, despite difficult weather conditions, the series
has been hailed a great success.
The series was held in the Dirty Dog Terrain Park at the ski
area on July 24, August 28 and September 4, with categories
for men, women and juniors in ski and snowboard.
Remarkables Ski Area manager Ross Lawrence considers the
event an improvement on the 2009 series.
"We've had a great range of athletes this year. I'm amazed
every year by just how hard the riders push themselves. It
steps up every year."
High winds and heavy snow resulted in the series finale
scheduled for September 18 being cancelled.
"We managed to run three out of the four events scheduled for
the series. Having to cancel the finale as a result of the
weather was sharply disappointing, as the riders always build
up for that event. They get better and better as the series
moves forward," Mr Lawrence said.
The overall results were decided from the three legs of the
series that did take place.
In the open snowboard division, Milu Ma won the male title,
and Jen Brown won the female division.
In the open ski division, Matt Soundy took the gold in the
male category, and Adie Lawrence the women's ski title.
In the junior division, Hamish Bagley won the male snowboard
crown, and Toby Dickson the ski title.
