New Zealand's young snowsports competitors will be feted at a function in Wanaka on Sunday evening.

Snow Sports New Zealand and the Wanaka Ski and Snowsports Club have organised the function to celebrate successes during the northern hemisphere winter.

Those to be honoured include: Craig Murray, World Junior Freeride Tour Ski champion; Finn Bilous, Youth Olympic Freeski medallist and USASA Open winner; Zoi Synott, Women's Open Snowboard USASA champion; Alice Robinson, under-16 USASA Alpine Champion; and Ben Richards, Kate Richards and Blake Hartley, medallists at FIS International Children's Alpine events throughout Europe and North America.

Club secretary Bonny Teat said this week the young athletes were now back home ‘‘studying seriously'' before beginning their winter season in New Zealand.

Video of the athletes in action would be shown at the function and they would ‘‘share their stories of triumph and adversity on the pathway to success''.
